How can I withdraw my application?
It’s understandable that you may need to withdraw your application for a job you’ve applied for on Patchwork Hub. If you’ve decided to withdraw your application, the process will depend on how you have applied. Below are the three ways you can withdraw your application based on the method used when applying:
Withdrawing an application submitted directly on Patchwork Hub
If an employer has chosen to use Patchwork Hub’s candidate management system, you will have applied directly on Patchwork Hub’s website by uploading your CV and providing a supporting statement.
Although you can see these applications by accessing the Applied Jobs page on your candidate dashboard, there currently isn’t a function to withdraw your application on the Patchwork Hub website.
While we are working to implement this feature, you will need to inform the hiring manager for the role you are applying for that you wish to withdraw your application.
The best way to do this will be via an email address which the employer should have provided in their job advert.
In the email to the hiring manager, we recommend that you:
- Clearly state that you wish to withdraw your application and specify the exact role you applied for.
- Include some brief details as to why you wish to withdraw your application, only if you feel comfortable doing so. This may be because you’ve accepted a job elsewhere, or the recruitment timelines don’t work for you.
- Ensure that your full name is included in the email so the hiring manager can remove your application from their systems.
- Thank the hiring manager for their time, and wish them the best with their recruitment.
Here’s an example of a withdrawal email that you may wish to adjust and use:
Subject: Withdrawal of Application – [Job Title]
Dear [Hiring Manager’s Name],
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you that I would like to withdraw my application for the position of [Job Title] at [Company Name].
Thank you for considering my application, and I wish you all the best in finding the right candidate for the role.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
If you cannot find an email address or contact phone number for the hiring manager, please let us know via our Contact page and we will try to assist you with this matter.
Withdrawing an application submitted via an external website
If clicking the Apply Now button on a job took you to an external website, you may have been asked to complete an application on a platform that was not Patchwork Hub.
Employers will sometimes want jobseekers to apply using their own platform or portal. In these instances, withdrawing your application may follow a different process and be out of Patchwork Hub’s remit.
If the external web page or portal doesn’t have a clear way to withdraw your application, we recommend that you get in touch with the hiring manager or HR/recruiting team at the organisation the job role is with.
You may wish to send an email including some of the information we have recommended earlier in this article.
Withdrawing an application submitted via email
If you applied to a job advert via email, clicking the Apply Now button will have opened an email draft to the email address provided by the employer.
In these instances, the hiring manager will not be processing your application via the Patchwork Hub platform, and will often request a CV and cover letter by email.
If you wish to withdraw your application over email, we suggest that you reply to the hiring manager on the same thread on which you originally applied, explaining that you are withdrawing from the application process. This will make it easier for the hiring manager to ensure that they withdraw the correct applicant.
When getting in touch over email, you may again wish to include some of the information we have recommended earlier in this article.
